When it comes to the makeup looks at the Spring 2018 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, there were some clear breakout trends. This season, it was obvious that the main focus was on the eyes, a trend we also noted at the Fall 2017 shows. Makeup artists enhanced eyes with everything from bold swipes of shadow to intentionally clumped mascara to glittering diamantés and, of course, countless creative ways to wear eyeliner. When not focusing on the eyes, it was all about lips, especially red lips.
Take a more minimalist approach to eyeliner with the thinnest of dashes on the outer corners of eyes. The understated look was seen at Jil Sander with glowing skin and not much else.
Christian Siriano’s multicolored nails provided some fresh nail art inspiration, but the imperfectly perfect clumpy mascara is something we’re also keen to try. Makeup artist Peter Philips applied multiple coats of mascara, clumping lashes together to create a soft, spiky look.
At Marc Jacobs, the black liquid liner was applied around the entire perimeter of the eye and flicked out at both corners.
Put down the eyeliner and enhance eyes by lining them with diamantés a la Dries Van Noten. Glitter is great, but the little gems circling the eyes create a unique futuristic look.
Red, Red Lips
Blumarine accented glowing skin and groomed brows with a slick of cherry red lipstick. It’s polished, but not fussy, making it the perfect day look.
Rainbow Bright Eyes
Marni brought blue eyeshadow into this decade with a striking cobalt blue shade accenting eyes. Other models wore sky blue and emerald green swiped across their lids in thick, elongated strokes.
